    Creatine is a conditionally essential nutrient, whose synthesis requires three amino acids (arginine, glycine and methionine) and three organs (kidney, liver and muscle). In the kidney, arginine transfers its amidino group to glycine to synthesize GAA.


    CreBuilder® is the latest rumen-protected guanidinoacetic acid (PR-GAA) developed by Beijing Gendone Biotechnology Co., Ltd. CreBuilder® is a nutritional feed additive, which belongs to "amino acid, amino acid salt and its analogues". CreBuilder® adopts a microcapsule multilayer coating process, which is an ideal creatine source for high-yield ruminants. CreBuilder® supplies more metabolizable guanidinoacetic acid than unprotected products. CreBuilder® is used in ruminant feed to ensure adequate supply of creatine, improve energy efficiency, promote protein deposition, improve performance, slaughter performance, and meat quality, and relieve production stress. 







    Creatine is a conditionally essential nutrient, whose synthesis requires three amino acids (arginine, glycine and methionine) and three organs (kidney, liver and muscle). In the kidney, arginine transfers its amidino group to glycine to synthesize GAA. Therefore, guanidinoacetic acid is the direct endogenous precursor of creatine in the organism. GAA is transferred to the liver, where S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) gives its methyl group to GAA to synthesize creatine. Creatine is then transported by the bloodstream to the target cells with high energy need, such as skeletal muscle, mammary gland, heart, brain, sperm and immune cells. Creatine plays a key role in energy transfer and supply via creatine-phosphocreatine system. Deitary supplemental CreBuilder®  can increase creatine levels in the body by 20%.

    The effect of CreBuilder® on the performance and carcass traits 
    In Chinese Simmental bulls




    All plant-based diets cannot meet ruminant creatine requirements, resulting in decreased performance. Uncoated guanidinoacetic acid is quickly degraded by rumen microorganisms as non-protein nitrogen, and rumen bypass ratio is very low. 3. CreBuilder® is used microcapsule multilayer coating process, and provides more metabolizable guanidinoacetic acid. CreBuilder® is used in ruminant feed to ensure adequate supply of creatine, improve energy efficiency, promote protein deposition, improve performance, slaughter performance, and meat quality, and relieve production stress. The purpose of this experiment is to study the effect of CreBuilder® on the performance and carcass traits in Chinese Simmental bulls.





    Experiment materials


    The CreBuilder® in this test was provided by Beijing Gendone Biotechnology Co., Ltd. 


    Experimental animals and design


    A total of 10 Chinese Simmental bulls with initial body weight about 500 kg were allotted to 2 treatments with 5 cattle per pen. The control group was fed a basal diet (total mixed ration), and the test group added 1200 g CreBuilder® per kg concentrate supplement in the basal diet. The feeding trial lasted 90 days.


    Feeding management 


    The experiment was conducted in a farm (Chifeng, Neimenggu Province, China). Cattles were fed twice a day in the morning and evening, with free drinking water. 


    Measurement indicators and methods


    At the beginning of the feeding experiment, 10 bulls were weighed. On the 90th day, all bulls were transported to a nearby commercial abattoir and weighed again to calculate the average daily gain during the trial period. Bulls were electrically stunned and then killed by exsanguination. Carcasses obtained according to the normal industry standard were weighed. 


    Statistical analysis


    The test data was compared and analyzed using EXCLE (2013) software. 






    Dietary supplementation CreBuilder® at 1200 g CreBuilder® per kg concentrate supplement in the basal diet increases daily gain by 160 grams and dressing percentage by 1.8% for Chinese Simmental bulls.
