3. 2 Harm of Poor-quality GAA

There are lots of residues on Poor quality GAA products, which would cause the following issue.

Harm of residues in GAA products

ItemsConclusion
CyanamideHighly toxic; LD50 142—223mg/kg for rat. Adverse health effects like weight loss, hypothyroidism, arched back, tremor, coarse fur and oxidative stress, dyspnea and cyanamide flush (red skin)
DicyandiamideLD50 > 5000 mg/kg for rat. Degrade into gaseous hydrogen cyanide in stomach, cause and aggravate respiratory diseases; bitter taste results in decrease of feed intake.
MelamineAccumulated in the kidney. Renal injury kidney stone, obstructive acute renal failure etc.
DioxinCarcinogen; highly toxic substances. Dioxin will accumulate in the food chain and eventually exist in fat tissues. The poor- quality GAA often contents a large amount of dioxins, which leads to the accumulation of dioxin in foods such as meat, eggs, milk and so on. And then damage peoples health.
